How do I connect MRPEasy to AI?

You can't connect MRPEasy to ChatGPT or Claude directly — neither can reach your orders, your stock levels, or your BOMs. Zamino bridges them in three moves:

  1. Connect MRPEasy to Zamino with a read-only API key.
  2. Zamino stores your order history and wires up ten live lookups for stock, BOMs, vendors and units.
  3. Link ChatGPT or Claude and ask your production data anything in plain English.

Which products will I run short on this month — and is it a supply problem or a demand problem?
AI
Checking live stock against your open customer orders and two years of order history, three finished goods go negative before month-end:
At-risk SKUs
3
+2 vs last month
Orders at risk
$47,300
+$31k
First stock-out
9 days
-6 days
Vendor on-time
61%
-22 pts
All three shortfalls trace to one component — A1565 Tahini Paste, which feeds 4 BOMs. You hold 310 kg on hand against 1,240 kg committed. Both open POs covering it sit with Ardent Foods, whose on-time rate fell from 83% to 61% this year at an average delay of 11 days.
Verdict — it's supply, not demand

Demand on the affected SKUs is up only 4% year over year, but your lead time on A1565 has stretched from 14 to 25 days. Your second-source vendor quotes 18 days at +6% — about $1,900 more on this order, against $47,300 of customer orders at risk. Re-source this one line and all three shortfalls disappear.

Example output. Try your own: Which BOM components are below their reorder point? · What did MO-2211 actually cost per unit versus plan? · Which vendors slipped on delivery last quarter?

what's covered

Exactly what your AI can see

MRPEasy is a hybrid connector, and the split is deliberate. Order history is synced into your own warehouse, because a question like "how did component cost move over 18 months" needs stored history to answer quickly. Current-state reference data is read live at the moment you ask, because a stale on-hand number is worse than no number at all.

5 entities2 years of historyhourly refresh

Synced into your warehouse

Five transactional entities, header and line detail, backfilled up to two years and refreshed hourly. Aggregate, historical and cross-entity questions run against this copy — instantly, without touching MRPEasy's API.

Orders
Purchase orders
Header plus every line: vendor, status, order and delivery dates, totals, tax, discount and currency rate.
Customer orders
Header plus every line: customer, profit, discount, invoice and payment status, shipping address.
Manufacturing orders
Header plus parts and operations: produced item and quantity, status, per-part cost derived from actual lot consumption, station and worker.
RMA orders
Header plus return items, with lot tracking and inspection links. Tracked for quality, not revenue — RMAs carry no monetary value.
Invoices
Sales invoices
Header plus every line: invoice type, payment status, tax-inclusive total, and the customer order each line traces back to.
How it stays current
User-actions change log
Every hourly run reads MRPEasy's own audit log and re-fetches only the records that actually changed. A quiet hour costs a single call.

Where the line is

Nothing is written back — Zamino holds no create, update or delete access to MRPEasy.
Routings are referenced by ID on a BOM; the routing definitions themselves are not read.
Lot and serial detail is read where it hangs off a manufacturing order or RMA line, not as a standalone inventory ledger.

Every call above is read-only, scoped to the MRPEasy account you connect, and recorded in your Zamino audit log.

why not connect directly?

Can't ChatGPT just connect to MRPEasy?

Not in a way that actually works — and a pure live connector fails differently from a pure copy. Here's why MRPEasy needs both.

A direct / live connector

Re-fetches MRPEasy on every question — the order endpoints are paginated and rate-limited.
No stored history, so it can't answer how anything moved over the last 18 months.
Sees MRPEasy alone — no accounting, payments or bank data alongside it.
Forgets your part codes, BOM names and margin definitions between chats.

MRPEasy + Zamino

Two years of orders, invoices and MO costs pre-organized — multi-month answers in under a second.
Stock, BOMs and vendor scorecards read live, so an on-hand number is never stale.
Add accounting, payments & bank for true cost-to-cash answers in one connection.
Remembers your part codes, BOM names and margin definitions, every session.
faq

Connecting MRPEasy to AI — common questions

Does MRPEasy have a built-in AI or ChatGPT feature?

No. MRPEasy gives you fixed reports and CSV exports — there's no way to ask a free-form question, and no way to ask one that spans orders, stock and BOMs at once. Zamino adds that in about five minutes.

Does Zamino copy my MRPEasy data, or query it live?

Both — deliberately. Your five transactional entities (purchase, customer, manufacturing and RMA orders, plus sales invoices) are synced into your own warehouse, because a question like "how did component cost move over 18 months" needs stored history to answer quickly. Reference data — stock levels, BOMs, vendors, units — is read live when you ask, because a stale on-hand number is worse than no number. The coverage breakdown above lists exactly what falls on each side.

What can I ask about my MRPEasy data?

Anything from "which materials are below reorder point?" to "which MOs ran over planned cost last quarter, and was it materials or labor?" Because stock and BOMs are live while order history is stored, you can mix the two in one breath — "given what's on hand, which open customer orders can I actually fulfil this week?"

Will this slow MRPEasy down?

No. Syncs run hourly and use MRPEasy's own change log to re-fetch only the records that actually changed, so a quiet hour costs a single call. Zamino stays well under MRPEasy's rate limit by design, and historical questions hit your stored copy rather than the API at all.

Do I need API access on my MRPEasy plan?

Yes — API access has to be enabled for your account, under Settings → Integration → API access. That's the screen where you generate the key and secret Zamino asks for. If you can see it, you're ready to connect.

Can ChatGPT or Claude connect to MRPEasy directly?

Not in a useful way. Out of the box, neither ChatGPT nor Claude can reach MRPEasy at all. Even with a live API connector they'd page through orders on every question — slow, rate-limited, and hopeless across months of history. Zamino stores your order history so historical and cross-entity questions answer instantly, and reads stock, BOMs and vendors live so current-state answers are never stale.

Is it safe to connect MRPEasy to AI?

Yes. Zamino connects with an MRPEasy API key and secret that you generate and can revoke at any time, and the connector issues read-only requests exclusively — it holds no ability to create, edit or delete anything in MRPEasy. Credentials are encrypted at rest, your data is isolated to your business, and every call your AI makes is recorded in your Zamino audit log.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Connecting MRPEasy is a few clicks, and asking questions is just plain English in the AI app you already use. There are no spreadsheets, exports, or formulas.

Does this work with Claude as well as ChatGPT?

Yes. Zamino gives you one secure connection that works in ChatGPT, Claude, or both — bring whichever AI you prefer. The same connection also lets you add other tools like QuickBooks and Stripe later.

How much does it cost?

Your first connected source is free on every plan, so you can connect MRPEasy and start asking questions at no cost. Paid plans add more sources and teammates — we never charge per record, and asking questions is always included.
